ISO 22000 is an internationally recognized standard that combines the ISO 9001 approach to food safety management and HACCP for the assurance of food safety at all levels.
The ISO 22001 standard outlines requirements for a food safety management system (FSMS) to enable an organization to plan, implement, operate, maintain and update a FSMS providing products and services that are safe, in accordance with their intended use. All requirements of the standard are generic and are intended to be applicable to all organizations in the food chain.
ISO 22000 covers the key components for ensuring food safety including interactive communication, system management, implementation of pre-requisite programs and the continual review and improvement of the system.
